Vietnamese Authorities Spy on Local Khmer Krom Monks

NEWS ALERT:  Vietcongs Authorities Summon Local Khmer Krom Monk in homeland.

At Wat Chrey Ta-Sor temple, Hau Lac commune, Srok Mot Somoat (Duyen Hai) district, Preah Trapang (Tra Vinh), Venerable Kim Lanh was summoned to the commune office on April 4, 2012 by the Vietnamese authorities on ground that the Venerable has contact with the Khmer Krom overseas and has contact with Venerable Dee Nay.

Venerable Dee Nay has been placed on the Vietcongs' blacklist as a local Khmer Krom monk who has been promoting the preservation of the Khmer Krom language, culture, and identity in homeland (the Mekong Delta) region.  Venerable Dee Nay is a Khmer Krom dissident who continues to fight for Khmer Krom rights in the district.

Venerable Kim Lanh was summoned by the Vietnamese agent nicknamed  Tha`nh who has also tried to enlist Venerable Kim Lanh as secret agent to spy on activities of  his friend Ven. Dee Nay and other monks at the temple and on individuals who try to have contact with Khmer Krom overseas and foreign organizations.

The temple has been monitored and monks harassed by the Vietnamese authorities for more than 1 year now, since Venerable Dee Nay and Venerable Kim Lanh have been blacklisted by the Vietcongs authorities.  Both Venerables have appealed to outside world for bringing justice and freedom to their homeland--the Mekong Delta.
